15,000 Michigan Manufacturers and Only Six Are Selected For Prestigious Award
Michigan Manufacturers Assn. Recognizes Full Spectrum Solutions For Its Continued Growth, Innovation and Commitment To the State
Jackson, MI– May 9th, 2012 – The Michigan Manufacturer Association presents only eight manufacturers in the state of Michigan the prestigious John G. Thodis Award each year. The awards program, in its 30th year, recognizes the positive contributions of Michigan manufacturers to the industry and their local communities. This year, award recipients were Chrysler Group LLC, Amigo Mobility International, Automatic Spring Products Corporation, Eagle Alloy, Inc., Anderson Global, and Full Spectrum Solutions, Inc.
In the midst of Full Spectrum Solution's Michigan Energy Awareness Campaign, the award could not have come at a better time. "We know that we have a huge talent base, and a huge foundation for resources in Michigan. If we can buy something here, procure it here, or make it here, we are going to do that. These awards solidify that others besides Full Spectrum Solutions are making this commitment to Michigan's economy," stated Michael Nevins, CEO of Full Spectrum Solutions, Inc.
Several other executives in attendance had similar perspectives as Nevins, such as Scott Garberding, Vice President of Chrysler Group. "Michigan has a lot of natural strengths from a manufacturing perspective and we see a lot of investing going on, in fact even some businesses are moving back from overseas to Michigan," commented Garberding.
The honorees were presented with their awards at a luncheon held in conjunction with the MMA CEO & Executive Forum on May 8, 2012. The event was held at the Henry Center for Executive Development in Lansing and featured an address by Governor Snyder and keynote presentation from Charles G. McClure, CEO of Meritor, Inc. and Director of Business Leaders of Michigan.
McClure implemented an overall theme during his presentation, and introduced a video that included several different perspectives from organizations such as the Ford Motor Company and Delta Airlines. The theme to the video was "Share It. Talk It Up. Drive It Home.", and proposed the vision of the Michigan Turnaround Plan: A Blueprint for a New Michigan. The plan suggests that Michiganders, and Michigan business owners need to support one another and move Michigan forward together
The event brings manufacturing leaders together from across the state to discuss the most pressing issues impacting manufacturers each year, manufacturer to manufacturer. No other event provides the same kind of interaction, open dialogue and honest sharing about what matters most, not only to manufacturers, but specifically to Michigan manufacturers.
In addition, Governor Snyder signed the proclamation at the event for May 6th through May 13th to be Michigan Manufacturing Week. Snyder also discussed several resources available to Michigan businesses and emphasized Michigan talent, and teamwork.
