1. We use True Color full spectrum lights without UV for the highest optical performance.
Brighter is not always better. Why? Unfortunately most manufacturers do not use full spectrum lights.
Some of the most popular light box companies use inexpensive (82CRI 4100Kelvin or 3000Kelvin) bulbs with poor color rendering and a harsh yellow color which promote eye strain and fatigue. Many companies state that (82CRI 4100Kelvin bulbs) are full spectrum.
Nothing could be further from the truth. The companies that make these bulbs like Sylvania call them "cool white bulbs". We replace these same lights in schools and office buildings every day because of consumer complaints about eye strain and eye fatigue.
This type of light is inexpensive and easy to purchase at most lighting stores, but the technology is over 75 years old. While the manufacturer saves money and can produce more light at the start, the light is far from healthy and will lose its intensity quickly. That is why these bulbs normally need to be replaced every year.
UltraLux™ light bulbs will last at least one to two years depending on the model of lamp you choose while maintaining their effectiveness. We are experts in the healthy lighting industry and specialize in the manufacturing of full spectrum lighting with over eight lines of quality full spectrum lighting products.
Our lights are used by zoos, animal clinics and health related companies world-wide. This is why we are confident that you will not find a higher quality light than our UltraLux™ brand full spectrum light therapy boxes.
2. The only fully dimmable light box on the market.
Again, brighter is not always better. Why? Many companies equate the fact that they are the brightest with being the best. Unfortunately, in their race to be the brightest they have ignored the health risks that their poor quality lamps have to the consumer. One company who claims it has "healthy light products" states:
"In clinical trials side effects such as eye strain, fatigue, feeling "wired", headache and insomnia were reported, and are quickly alleviated by reducing the light intensity."
Here the very company that promotes high light intensity says reducing the light intensity helps alleviate the problems that can be associated with light therapy. These are the two reasons they are having problems.
1. They are not using full spectrum light. Again the same company states under the heading "Why use Full Spectrum Light?"
"Controlled clinical trials have shown that as long as the light is bright enough it can be effective without the use of full spectrum light."
We disagree with this statement and so do others who use true color full spectrum lights.
2. If the brightness and or intensity is causing the problem, then you need to turn the light down. This is why UltraLux I uses its state of the art Electronic Dimming System and UltraLux II uses two settings of 50% and 100%. Many people who use light therapy do not need the full 10,000 Lux for the light to be effective. We have found in our research that longer use at lower settings is much more comfortable and has fewer side effects. We can state comfortably that UltraLux products are as bright as any true color light therapy fixture on the market. If users are not comfortable with the higher settings, they can easily turn the light down to a setting that promotes less eye strain. Why sit in front of a light when it is uncomfortable and could cause potential health problems with your eyes later? Full Spectrum is your best choice!
