Our beloved Liz Karl, Vice President of Full Spectrum Solutions, Inc. passed away on March 31, 2009. Liz was diagnosed with breast cancer on March 20, 2008, but remained strong and optimistic throughout her battle. She is survived by her son Anton, her mother and father, Carol and Charlie Morrisey, her sister Susie, and her brothers Trevor and Sean.
Liz was born Elizabeth Morrisey on July 4, 1977. She graduated from Western High School in 1995 and went on to pursue her Art degree at Spring Arbor University, where her father taught for more than 20 years. In 1999 she married Bill Karl, whom she met while attending Spring Arbor, and on December 20, 2001 she gave birth to her first and only son, Anton.
During her senior year at Spring Arbor she got a part-time job scheduling appointments for Diane Nevins, the owner of Hand and Heart Massage. Diane's husband, Michael Nevins, who founded Full Spectrum Solutions, Inc. in 1997, needed an extra hand managing his lighting business, which is where Liz became the very first Full Spectrum Solutions employee.
Liz played an integral role in the company's success over the last eleven years. She helped the company evolve from the small office in the Nevins' basement into the new 72,000 square foot World Headquarters and U.S. manufacturing facility located in Jackson, MI.
Her business sense was part of what drove the company to success, but it was her compassion for others that made her an invaluable member of Full Spectrum Solutions. Instead of mourning her passing, we will celebrate her life each day by using her strength and optimism to achieve the goals she set forth.
Not only was Liz loved by her coworkers, she was loved by her customers as well. Customers often call and ask if Liz Karl still works at Full Spectrum Solutions. When they are told that she has become the Vice President of the company they reply, “Good for her, I knew she was going to be successful! Employees like her are an asset to the company.”
Liz enjoyed traveling, experiencing new things, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a fabulous artist who created the most beautiful paintings. She was classic and reserved, but had a side that was artistic and wild. She has colored her hair every color imaginable, but embraced the gray hair she was finally growing back. We have learned invaluable lessons from Liz and her spirit will continue to live on through each person she touched.
You will be dearly missed.
